Before we start, just remember - this recipe is designed to get the most out of your Hell's Kitchen™ cookware, using our 7.5 Qt Pot to blanch those green beans to perfection, and the11” Hybrid Frying Pan to bring out the flavor in every bite.
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ pounds fresh green beans, trimmed
- 1 cup crispy fried onions (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup chicken broth or water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
-
Optional: ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes for heat
Instructions:
Start off by blanching the green beans:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Hell’s Kitchen 7.5 Qt Pot with Lid : Boil the green beans for 3-4 minutes until tender but still crisp.
-
Drain the green beans and immediately transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. After a few minutes, drain the beans and pat them dry.
Next, you’ll need to sauté the garlic:
- In your Hell’s Kitchen11” Frying Pan , melt the butter and olive oil over medium heat.
-
Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
Continue by sautéing the green beans:
- Add the blanched green beans to the sauté pan, tossing to coat in the butter and oil mixture.
- Pour in the chicken broth (or water), season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using), and stir.
-
Sauté for about 4-5 minutes until the green beans are heated through and tender.
Finish by adding lemon juice:
- Once the broth has reduced and the green beans are cooked, squeeze the lemon juice over the green beans for a fresh, bright flavor.
-
Remove from heat.
Fry the onions:
-
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat, add sliced onions, and cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring often, until golden brown.
Top it off with crispy onions:
- Just before serving, sprinkle crispy fried onions on top of the green beans. If you prefer them warm, briefly toss the crispy onions in the sauté pan for the last minute of cooking.
It’s ready to be served:
-
Serve immediately as a delicious and crunchy side dish.
This sautéed green beans dish is simple, flavorful, and enhanced by the crispy onions for a great balance of textures.
